If allowed to be moonscorched she will become Chaugnar, who kinda looks like a fucked up elephant-human. She is also my wrench tossing wife.

History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

Despite your homeland suffering greatly from the First Great War, you had a peaceful and balanced childhood with both of your parents and many siblings. The northern capital Oldegård was rebuilding their destroyed cities, when news about hostilities in the eastern Europa were broadcasted on the radio. It sounded like the beginning of another worldwide war... You were still too young to take part in defending your borders so you had to figure out an alternate way to help out your homefront. You had a knack for mechanics and electronics, so ultimately it came down to those two lines of studies...

  • Learn electronics You learned Short circuit!
  • Learn mechanics You learned Wrench toss!

Because you were the eldest child, you had a natural habit of taking care of those around you. Many of your close relatives marched to battle and nothing could've gotten you more frustrated than your inability to help people more directly. You had already matured to adulthood, but because of your expertise in engineering, your role on the homefront was more important than what you could've achieved on the battlefield. The homefront was in disorder too. Someone had to step up and cover the all the missing men now dying far away on some remote battlefields. Your broad shoulders could carry the burden and the increasing work load. They had to, because if not you, then who? During one particularly stormy night, while you were returning home after your twelve hour day, you ran into a foreign man on a rain soaked alleyway... The man noticed you and desperately tried to run for it only to collapse after weakly ten meters or so. The man had been shot to the belly. Upon searching his possessions, you found his documents that said he was from the Kingdom of Rondon, an allied country of Oldegård's. You thought about what to do for a moment and then...

  • Reported the man to officials. You reported the man to the officials of Oldegård. Apparently he had just recently travelled from the Eastern Union to Oldegård and was suspected for espionage. There was even a bounty on his head. You got 10 Shillings for finding him. One of the shillings ended up being a Lucky coin! Lucky you! Something bothered you about the case and you returned to the alley where you first found the man. Upon thoroughly searching the alleyway, you found a suitcase full of top secret documents stolen from the Eastern Union. On his memo, the man had written down an address that pointed to the Kingdom of Rondon. The documents didn't look like those of an Eastern Union spy. They looked the exact opposite in fact. You decided to take the papers to Rondon by yourself.
  • Took the man back home and treated his wounds. The man stayed unconscious for a week, but slowly recovered thanks to your attentive mending. As days went by, he saw your eagerness to help and frustation towards the war. He then revealed his business in Oldegård. He was part of an underground resistance organization called "Nameless Liberty Underground", NLU in short. The organization had been brewing hidden from watching eyes since the dawn of the first Great War. NLU worked across Europa trying to subdue the advancement of both Bremen Empire and Eastern Union. The man had important documents that needed to be taken to Kingdom of Rondon as soon as possible. Because he couldn't obviously take them there himself, he asked if you could take his role. You had been hoping for a chance to work on something bigger and this opportunity seemed to be just that. You packed your bags and set out. As a thanks for his rescue, the man gave you his Officer sword.

You travelled through Europa all the way to Kingdom of Rondon. You found the meeting point described by the man and made contact with his colleagues.

If reported the man: It turned out that the man was part of an underground resistance organization called "Nameless Liberty Underground", NLU in short. The organization had been brewing hidden from watching eyes since the dawn of the first Great War. NLU worked across Europa trying to subdue the advancement of both Bremen Empire and Eastern Union.

After talking briefly about the current situation in the eastern Europa, you were asked to join the organization. They were running low on members and your expertise would surely come handy. You were lead to their headquarters and you got to choose how you'd offer your help...

  • Help with creating weapons. You learned Weaponcraft!
  • Help with creating traps. You learned Trapcraft!

NLU had spies everywhere in Europa and beyond. Combining various information snippets gathered from across the continent you were able to unravel parts of a larger scheme... The Eastern Union had been working on something malevolent and ill-boding in the country of Bohemia and it seemed like Bremen wanted to get their hand on this project. Your deductions got a lot more weight when you heard that Bremen army finally occupied Bohemia. NLU sent some of their members immediately to the capital of Bohemia, Prehevil, but you quickly lost contact to them. The organization decided to wait and see if their members would surface, but you couldn't just sit back and hope for the best. You decided to take the first train towards Prehevil and find out what was going on. You were told that if you needed support in your mission you'd recognize the leader of the Bohemian branch of NLU from her red shoes. With this little information about the task at hand, how did you prepare for the trip?

  • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
  • Stock up on spare parts You managed to find 2 Bolts, 2 Duct tape, 2 Pressure plates and 3 Scrap Metal!
  • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!

You've felt tense since the moment you embarked on this journey. Every night you'd see nightmares of the horrors that would wait you in Prehevil... Are they just dreams? You can't help but feel that there is more to the dreams than mere logic would dictate.

a dynamic pose of abella. her left hand is positioned to have just thrown something, and her right hand holds a red pipe wrench. one leg is folded back as if in a running motion, while the other supports her weight as she puts her weight into the throw.

Personality

Abella is a very kind person who seems to thrive on being helpful, quick to offer solutions and use her talents to aid in furthering your progress, despite the unique obstacle Prehevil presents. She is also outgoing and even sisterly at times, Abella is the first to offer reassurance to others. She will, however, hide her identity as a NLU member to the others. (Not very well, mind you. She is not a great liar.)

Gameplay

Abella is a very good first recruit. You can find her on day 1 morning, and her wrench toss and short circuit skills are super helpful early game. Wrench toss has the ability to hit an enemy and inflict a concussion, which will stun an enemy 1-3 turns. And, in some of the early mini-boss encounters (such as Needles, Stitches, and The Mob), those free extra turns can be the difference between scraping by and living to see another day, and dying, losing all your progress. Along with wrench toss, her other skill, short circuit, is very helpful for exploring the tunnels. While not nearly as helpful in a battle, it sure makes getting around underground a lot easier. Playing as her offers a few different advantages, being able to attain the weaponcraft and trapcraft skill, each allowing for the crafting of unique and powerful makeshift weapons and traps respectively. The crafted weapons are incredibly powerful, though very resource intensive. Overall an incredible first recruit. Fuck Henryk give me my WIFE.

Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white image of a rocket being launched into space. in the foreground abella stands and is speaking to a man in a suit holding what appears to be papers or a clipboard. behind them to the left stand four people taking pictures of the lauch or looking on in awe.

You couldn't sleep after what you had witnessed in Prehevil. You knew too much about the universe and what horrors it hid in the darkness of the night. The endless void above the sky taunted you. It laughed at you. You had finally realized how miniscule humans truly were in the grand scheme of things. Your insomnia almost drew you insane. But you had always been one to look for answers and solutions. Surely there was an answer to be found here too. The moon had paid you a visit and gazed at you for a brief second. To ask for answers, you'd need to pay the Moon God a visit too. You took high positions in fields that studied space technology. Over the years things started to advance and only after a decade you were already getting ready to launch people to the moon. You'd get an audience with the moon soon. Not with ancient rituals or occult, but thanks to technology and human wit.

Final Thoughts & Feelings

I love Abella. She seems so nice, but she's not a pushover. I am also a very, very simple man. I see a strong and muscular woman, I fall in love immediately. One of my personal favorite interactions with her and another character is how she speaks with Olivia in the deep woods. It's just so simple and silly to me. Despite the absolute nightmare they find themselves in, Abella is so willing to entertain Olivia's excitement. Her interest in new technologies overriding any sense of safety is also funny. She sees a big hole with a huge crane over it, she has to go down.

Trivia and the Funnies

  • Playing as Abella, you will start the game in a totally different outfit that is changed out of quickly. This change is clear in both her overworld sprite and her actor, which is a lot of extra work for such a small detail.
  • Both she and August are, at least partially, Oldegårdian, and can have a unique interaction while he is still by the train day 1 morning.
  • Playing as her allows you to read the coded letters, as they are written in a coded language she was taught by the NLU, but when reading them as any other character as your protagonist while she is in the party, she will comment they are unreadable.
  • Abella's moonscorched form is named after Chaugnar Faugn, an elephant-esq eldritch god from the Cthulhu Mythos. She wasn't inspired by the god, and according to Orange/Miro he just "thought the thing was cool" (based naming scheme). Also (to my chagrin), Chaugnar is named as "big boy" in the files of the game (making it very difficult to find her if you arent aware)
  • She is my wrench tossing wife

Daan is a man with ashy blue hair that goes down to his eyebrows. His features are softer than most, and he is wearing a white eyepatch over his left eye. He is wearing a black vest over a simple collared dress shirt with a string around his neck tied in a bow. His pants are a pale purple with a checker pattern that go up to his waste. (long ass pants looking ass). He is adjusting his collar and looking at the viewer.

Daan

The Doctor

"The doctor's skill set is mainly focused in curing different status ailments and analysing possible weaknesses in enemy anatomy."

Daan is a 28 year old doctor from The Kingdom of Rondon. A player character and potential party member, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. He has a special connection to a strange and eccentric individual named Pocketcat. If left to his own devices, he will eventually take on the persona of Pocketcat. It is a win for nobody but Pocketcat, as he is a weird little freak man.

History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

Since you were a toddler, you had been travelling around the Europa with your parents. Your parents were devout followers of the older god of fertility and creation, Sylvian. Because of the nature of Sylvian's cult, in each new town you'd witness your parents putting on their rabbit masks and heading to the meadows naked with all the other cult members. You hated this life. Your parents would be more concerned on the matters of religion than you. To make it worse, they even tried to pass on the healing gift of Sylvian to you. From very early on you learned that no gift comes without a price. With Sylvian's "gift of healing" you saw how the mental state of your parents deteriorated over time. They spent longer and longer times on the meadows. Until one day they never returned... You were 13 years of age and alone in the Kingdom of Rondon. You had to do something for living...

  • Try to find honest work A butler of a local aristocrat took you under his wing as an apprentice. You started working for the Baron Eihner Von Dutch. You learned good manners, grew to appreciate fine arts and other perks that high class living brought along. Over time you got better acquainted with the daughter of the house. Her name was Elise. She would be endlessly amused by your childhood stories and all the madness your past cult life brought with it. The baron himself learned of you upbringing as well and was fascinated by Sylvian and her healing properties. The baron used to work as a doctor and he had very different concepts for healing and mending wounds. He taught you about the modern medical practices in exchange for your knowledge on the older god Sylvian. To be honest, his thirst for otherwordly knowledge felt a little bit obsessive even. He taught you how you cannot cure any symptoms without giving something in return. To heal, something of equal value must be lost.
Memorize this very line You learned Medicinal and the mandatory skill of Organ Harvest that comes along with it. The most imporatnt thing learned is that you trade your life, your self in the practice of medicine. That is the price to save lives of others.
Continue with the studies to learn more You learned Analyze! The most imporatnt thing learned is that you trade your life, your self in the practice of medicine. That is the price to save lives of others.
  • Try to become a pickpocket You didn't have any natural talent as a pickpocket per se and the underworld of Rondon was very rough on you... You weren't cut out to be a street thug, so you had to rely on the only skills you had for the money... The healing gift of Sylvian. You ended up starting a street praction of medical care where you'd heal people of all social classes. You soon became surprisingly adept with the healing gift of Sylvian. You learned Loving whispers and your affinity with Sylvian grew! One day the local doctor and aristocrat, Baron Eihner Von Dutch came to your dirty office out of curiosity. He wasn't familiar with the Sylvian's teachings. The modern medical care worked with very different concepts and methods where magic certainly wasn't included in the curriculum. Nevertheless, the baron was fascinated by your otherwordly means of healing and was impressed by the results. He made a proposition to you that you simply couldn't turn down. He offered to take you in as his apprentice and in return he only asked to learn more about Sylvian and other older gods. You agreed and moved in to his huge manor. The first one to welcome you was the daughter of the baron, Elise Von Dutch. Something inside you changed that very moment as the two of you locked eyes.

As time went on, you became an item with Elise. Everything fell into place very naturally and even the baron gave you his blessing despite your background being anything but noble. For the first time in your life, everything felt just right. But this wouldn't last for long as something terrible had been brewing in the Eastern Europa for a good while. The conflict between the Eastern Union and the Bremen Empire had dragged many neighbouring countries to take part in the hostilities and the Kingdom of Rondon was no exception. The kingdom was enlisting all able-bodied men to the frontlines and you had no choice but to pack your bags and join the Great War. Because of your knowledge in medicine, you were given an option to join the army as a medic or pick up a gun and join as an infantry trooper.

  • Join as a medic You were given a Scalpel, a Light blue vial and Pep pills
  • Join the infantry You were given a Lugr Pistol and 5 9mm Bullets

The war was cruel and inhumane. You had to take part in countless things better left unspoken. The only thing that kept you going was the thought of your new family waiting for you back home. Every night you'd read letters from home and fall asleep to a photograph of Elise. One day the letters ended. It was natural for letters to get lost in all the chaos, but you couldn't help your ominous feelings... So when the Kingdom of Rondon finally withdrew from the war, you rushed straight back home as fast as possible... The manor of Von Dutch was lifeless and dark on that gloomy day. You stormed through the countless rooms, but couldn't find a soul in sight. That was until you found the basement door partly open. In the darkness below you could only tell apart the silhouette of a person who had died standing in the middle of swirling ritual circles. The person was Eihner Von Dutch himself. He had died on the spot from what seemed like self-inflicted wounds and cuts. Each corner of the basement had sacrificial gifts to an old god unknown to you. Your heart sank as you recognized just who was the main sacrifice of this maddening rite. You tried to save Elise with any means necessary. You tried to exchange vital parts of yourself for the life of her, but that didn't work. You tried unspeakable methods for days, but it was all in vain. She was too far gone. Occult had completely swallowed the baron while you were away and you could only guess what he had tried to accomplish with this unholy ritual. Upon searching through baron's documents you noticed a certain place mentioned frequently time and time again. A town called Prehevil in the country of Bohemia. The place had something to do with the beliefs of the baron and maybe there you'd find at least some sense to this madness. It wouldn't bring back your old life, but frankly, you had nothing else going for you anymore. Only this small clue on what took everything away from you. Answers... That was enough of a reason to get you back on the road. How did you prepare for your trip?

  • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue vials and a Cloth fragment!
  • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!
  • Stock up on alcohol You managed to find 2 bottles of Beer and a bottle of Vodka!

It's been a long and mentally taxing travel to this point... You hope that whatever you find from this small town could give at least some closure to your sorrow...

Personality

Daan, above all else, is a kind and caring individual, I think. He is often snarky and condesending, but his intentions are good. If you look for him the evening of day 1, he can be found in the hut on the dock assessing the state of the dying man inside, and, while he will join your party if asked, he won't leave the fishing village with you, as he still wants to find any kind of cure for the mysterious ailment affecting the people of Prehevil. You can later find him surrounded by moonscored individuals, trying to help well into the night. Daan is also very protective over the younger contestants, going as far as to refuse Marina drinks because of her age. Just below that facade, however, is a sad, sad man, who by the end has basically given up. The death of his wife and father in law left him with nothing, so he doesn't have much to lose. This trip to Prehevil was his last chance and it was FUCKED from the beginning. Get therapy.

Gameplay

Daan is really fun to play with, honestly. I adore the organ harvest and medicinal skills, which allow you to harvest different organs and cure different ailments with them, some of which are very difficult to cure otherwise. Being blinded or having a fracture can be run ending, but with these two skills they become a whole lot less of a problem. His other starter skill, analyze, isn't as helpful as you progress in the game, but it's really useful when you first start off and don't know how best to fight an enemy. It is also the skill he has as a party member, and having him analyze bodies can lead to some really funny comments. Loving whispers is also a useful thing early game, but it's not nearly as helpful as his specific skills. Magna-medicinal is also so so so good. Thematically? Incredible. Technically? Fucking amazing. You can have my arm give me my guy back.

Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white image of daan sitting on a lone chair in a dark room. his head is in his hand and he looks defeated.

Well that solved nothing. All this and you were still none the wiser. Mystic deities, unknown gods, unholy rituals... Nuggest of information... Were the answers buried somewhere amongst all this madness? Would the answers even matter anymore? If the baron von Dutch had dirtied his hands with blood, then you have reveled in bloodbath in comparison to get where you are now. You hear the heavy footsteps of that wicked cat. He knows what you've done. In Prehevil and before. The cat is circling around you in the darkness. Just beyond your line of sight. Maybe you should just take his offer? What else do you got going for you? Nothing. Thats right. It's peculiar, isn't it old sport? The life that is.

Final Thoughts & Feelings

Daan is kinda wet and pathetic. To me specifically. Exactly zero of his religious trauma is ever unpacked and he leaves a misserable mess. Every interaction with Karin is abolutely gold. I love their dynamic. It is so entertaining to watch them. Daan always has something to say, and it's usually at least medium funny. Or just, like... very grim and existential. A man of many dualities. He's a fan favorite for a reason. I relate a lot to his struggles with depression while putting on a brave face, and I think a lot of others do, too. He is such a well written character, though I suppose everyone else is as well. Miro is really good at writing characters, man. Anyways organ harvest is fucking hysterical to me. This man absolutely fucking decimates any corpse he tries to take the organs of. I know it's a gameplay thing but like oh my god I just wanted the eyes and he has turned this corpse into a pile of viscera.

Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

  • Daan's design is based on an old drawing Miro did all the way back in February 2016, found here. I don't have written confirmation from Miro but look me in the eyes and tell me it is not an earlier vesrion of the same guy.
  • Daan does not have a docterate in anything </3 he was taught medicine by the Baron, but it wasn't anything official, and any attempt at continuing his studies was halted by the growing war. By the time he got back from the field, the shit happened.
  • He and Pocketcat are besties (he is made to replace the previous host of Pocketcat like if being a catboy was parasitic).
  • His mother called him Daan, while his father called him Daniël. They mean the same thing, but it implies his parents may be from different parts of Europa.
  • I would not trust this man to amputate my leg

Karin is a woman with blonde hair and dark eyebrows. the roots are dark, implying she bleaches her hair. she is wearing a black turtleneck and a purple skirt. she wears a brown jacket with a white fur lining, and she has her hands in her pockets

Karin

The Journalist

"Having covered wars, coup d'etats and other disasters, the journalist has picked up various skills that help her survive. Persuasion skills definitely not being last on that list."

Karin Sauer is a 26 year old journalist from the Bremen Empire. A player character and potential party member, she is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. A woman with a strong resolve and even stronger opinions, she wants to find and expose the truth by any means neccessary.

History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

You were always a curious child. Your elder siblings and your nanny had to keep you out of the harm's way to the best of their abilities. Just a moment's lapse in their vigilance and you'd be running behind a corner for one of your many misadventures. Your parents were always busy. They had very little time for you and your brothers, instead you were mostly raised by Dalia, the nursemaid of the household. A tall woman in her 30s originating from the Eastern Sanctuaries. In your memories she was alright, but something always felt 'off' about her... Your parents were fresh aristocrats in the Bremen Empire. Despite being highly thought of, they were outsiders among the noble for they had risen to power by their own means and thus didn't have strong roots among the other blue blood of Bremen. This proved out to be a problem when tensions within Bremen borders were rising with different factions rising to prominence around the country. The situation looked bad for your family as you didn't have strong lineage to back you up. When the time came to throw someone at the wolves to please the general public, the Sauer family was the first to go. Certain populist factions were able to agitate the common people to start riots and a huge mob headed towards your family manor. In a hurry your parents gave you to Dalia's safe keeping and told her to leave the country. They would look you up when things had settled down. Or that's at least what Dalia told you afterwards. You were still a bit young to remember properly. But you could've sworn that Dalia never consulted your parents about your departure. In your memories Dalia just flat out kidnapped you. Whatever the case, you and Dalia traveled to Jettaiah, the capital of the Eastern Sanctuaries, recently named Eastern Union after they joined forces with the Voroniyan Republic. The culture shock was quite drastic, you had never seen such poverty and such riches, side by side in the street view. All the unfamiliar sounds and scents from spice vendors that circled your automobile... It was all too much for you as you were growing restless by the minute. Dalia struggled to contain you as you opened the car door and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

  • Convince passersby that you've been kidnapped You learned Persuade! Despite the language barrier, you managed to convince some of the people of your distress. Once Dalia came following with her excuses, she had a lot of convincing to do to get the people give you back to her. Dalia tried to assure you that you had nothing to worry about, but once again she gave that 'off' feeling. You didn't know what it was, but you seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to judging people's character and honesty. But there was not much you could do. You were still considered just a child after all.
  • Run through the crowded streets and hide You learned Escape plan! You threaded through the crowds quickly and gracefully. All the years of playing tag with your brothers paid off. You shook off Dalia with ease. However once the evening came and you grew hungry, you weren't so certain about your plan anymore. You heard Dalia yell for you tirelessly even after all these hours. You decided to give yourself in and reveal your location. You were still just a child after all, what were you going to do instead? Dalia tried to assure you that you had nothing to worry about, but once again she gave that 'off' feeling. You didn't know what it was, but you seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to judging people's character and honesty.

So you ended up living with Dalia in a rather decent looking building. She was cashing cheques to maintain your lifestyle. Dalia's version of the truth was that your parents were looking after you by sending money, but you had a feeling that it was just ransom money Dalia kept spending. It wasn't all bad though. Growing up in the Eastern Union gave you some perspective at the very least. The way the local authority oppressed the locals made you wary of those in power. In your teenage years you started spending more time with various civil rights organizations that were active in Jettaiah. During one of the weekly protests the local army decided to make an example of your group. Without mercy the armored officers pummeled brutally those in the first rows of the demonstration.

  • Help those who were wounded Lucky you had prepared for situations like this and you had various first aid item with you. You got 4 Cloth fragmnents and 2 Blue vials! You tried to bandage one of your unconscious comrades, but the army officers reached you in no time and proceeded to beat you to the ground.
  • Grab a pistol from one of the officers and defend yourself You got a Lugr Pistol and 6 9mm Bullets! You noticed an unconscious army officer on the ground. You picked up his pistol in a hurry, pointed the gun at the opposing forces and shot. You managed to hit one of the officers, but you only managed to shoot his thigh. In return he answered your fire with fire and shot you in the abdomen. You fell down immediately. The pain was excruciating.
  • Run away You learned Escape plan! You were able to push through the panicking masses that were all trying to escape from the narrow streets. You knew these alleys well and in no time you got back to you flat where you resided with Dalia.

Unfortunately a foreigner like yourself stood out in the protest and soon you had army officers at your doorway. With great force they pushed you on the ground which knocked you out immediately. You woke up in the hospital. There were people from the Bremen embassy waiting for you to wake up. Apparently the protest had gained some publicity and they had noticed you on a television. You explained your situation to them and they took you in their custody. Soon you were already on a plane flight headed back to Bremen. You were returned to your mother and her new husband. The rioting mobs had burned down your family manor all those years ago and your father had died during the unrest. You never heard of Dalia again, but apparently she had indeed kidnapped you and you were living off of ransom money your new stepfather had barely been able to put together. Your sixth sense seemed to be working as intended. Your turbulent life had left a mark in you and you had trouble staying still for too long. Instead of settling down properly, you became a journalist at a very young age. The situation in Bremen seemed very suspicious to you. A mysterious person only known as 'Kaiser' was appointed the chancellor of the Bremen Empire without any prior involvement in the country's politics. He had appeared seemingly out of nowhere and taken control of the whole country. Kaiser was partly responsible for what happened to your father as it was him who had been riling up people against the nobility of the country. But it wasn't just that. You also got major 'off' vibes from this person. That's why you dug deep to uncover his past. Nothing seemed to make sense though. There were connections between Kaiser and a so-called secret society called 'The New Gods', but that started to sound like a petty conspiracy theory the more you read into it. Still, your sixth sense was tingling. The New Gods were a group that had been talked about since the Cruel Ages of history. They were the typical secret society, controlling different nations from behind the the curtain and puppeteering those seemingly in power. There were several people in modern global politics linked to this group. The more you investigated the subject, the more it started to look as if this group was behind the last two great wars that had ravaged the world. Something big was definitely brewing in Europa... When Kaiser occupied Prehevil, the capital of Bohemia only to shortly after make a truce with the Eastern Union - that's when your alarm bells started to ring loud. Something was definitely 'off'. You decided to take off and travel to Bohemia yourself. With this long trip ahead of you, how did you prepare for the trip?

  • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
  • Stock up on self-defense items You managed to buy Lugr Pistol, 5 9mm Bullets and a Fencing gambeson !
  • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!

You've felt tense since the moment you embarked on this journey. Every night you'd see nightmares of the horrors that would wait you in Prehevil... Are they just dreams? You can't help but feel that there is more to the dreams than mere logic would dictate.

karin standing in a reserved pose. she is holding a pistol close to her chest as she takes a step forward. she is looking at the viewer cautiously.

Personality

Karin is best described as being a very passionate woman. She has MANY opinions and feels VERY STRONGLY about all of them. This passion can cause her to clash heavily with others, Daan being the harshest to her in the game. She also feels rather strongly about Kaiser and the Bremen army as a whole, calling them pigs (based) and initially blaming everything happening in Prehevil on them. Karin is determined and goal oriented, throwing herself into danger in persuit of what she wants. That being said, she is a huge bitch and I love her for that. She's such a hater. Sometimes she borders on manic, but Termina has a nasty habit of getting into people's heads and bringing out the worst in a person.

Gameplay

Karin would be a rather blah play if it wasn't for her persuade skill. It's kinda the only thing that carries her, unfortunately, but it is a very fun thing to be carried by. Some of the interactions with moderately intellegent enemies are really insightful, and very entertaining. It can also give you a bit of a buffer with an extra turn or two, but not always since some level of intelligence is needed to make it work. She also has lockpicking and escape plan in her arsenal, which are medium useful, but they're hardly just hers as they're holdovers from the first game. Her skillset is rather lacking and I wish she had a bit more to offer. Otherwise she is a really fun character to interact with. Her talks are way funnier than they should be to me, especially with Daan. Overall I would say she's a good, if basic, character.

Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white photo of Karin. she is sitting in an office setting while on the phone. her jacket hangs on the back of her chair and in the background other people are working.

The events of Prehevil shook you to the core. Suddenly many things in life felt meaningless against this overwhelming realization of what hides behind the veil between the known and the unknown. As you returned back to civilization, you understood that your experiences would sound like ramblings of a mad man if you ever tried to put them down on paper. You need proof before you could open your mouth. You had witnessed the rumors about the New Gods and Kaiser in real life. You knew they were real. This was half the job already. Now you only needed to convince the rest of the world of this forbidden information. This goal helped you get by each day. You needed clear goals to block the dread out of your mind. You started digging. Like you had always done. Sooner or later you would get to the root of things. It remains to be seen whether your sanity will withstand th true or not...

Final Thoughts & Feelings

Karin is a really fucking good character to add a bit of spice to the game. Her strong characterization makes her stand out. Some people might think she's a bitch, and she absolutely is, but I think Miro's writing is what makes her so compelling. She could be a one note bitch, but she's not. She has a purpose. A reason. I wish she was a bit more interesting to play as, but it's made up for by everything else. She's so fucking good, man. I love her. Her interactions with everyone are fucking incredible. Karin be normal about it challenge level impossible. Every day I wake up and think about her conversation with Daan in the rafters of the church. Karin deserves an emmy for being the most dramatic bitch on planet earth. And god the persuade skill is so fucking funny to me you have no idea. Imagine being in a life or death fight with a crazed barely human shaped creature and being like "this is a good time for an interview". Unhinged behavior. She also has based anarcho-communist vibes to me. I may not respect the press, but I can respect the worst woman you've ever had drinks with. "I don't need some queer eyepatched foreigner telling me what's possible and what's not" is still her best line by far. She really clocked Daan and immediately committed a microaggression.

Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

  • Karin thinks very highly of her position as a journalist, considering herself to be a kind of Valkyrie for the fallen, despite others viewing her as a vulture. This dichotomy is really interesting seeing as her moonscorched form is a lot of both. It makes me think a lot about what exactly moonscorched forms are supposed to be.
  • You can read some of her works in games, being the author of the Kaiser critique, which can be found on bookshelves in game.
  • Playing as Karin changes how the opening plays out quite a bit, since she plays such a big part in it usually. It's spearheaded by Olivia and Henryk, instead. I appreciate how her dialogue options for her as a pc stick with her strong personality, giving you some of the same options she says normally.
  • In the White Mold Apartments, you can watch a program on the TV at the end of floor 1 with "Karin" reporting on the series of murders that took place in the apartments. When Karin is in your party, she'll say she's never even been to Prehevil, let alone reprted on anything. My assumption is she has a doppelgänger. This implies that divine presence has been in Prehevil much longer than just the festivals, and that this whole thing might have even been pre-determined.
  • Karin is very similar to "Karen", which is a name used to describe a particular archetype of an entitle middle aged woman who makes life hell for the average wagie. I like to think this naming scheme was on purpose. Karin has strong "he asked for no pickles" energy to me.
  • Her design strongly implies she bleaches her hair, since her roots and eyebrows are a lot darker. Truly a Karin....... lol

levi is a young man with black hair cut just above his ears. his features are boyish, but with sharp downturned eyebrows. he is wearing an army green short sleeved collared coverall with a pocket on his left chest and on his sides. it sinches in at the waist.

Levi

The Ex-Soldier

"Having fought in the war since he was 13, ex-soldier excels at ranged combat and has great aim with most firearms."

Levi is an 18 year old ex-soldier Prehevil native. A player character and potential party member, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. Orphan, child soldier and heroin addict, this boy cannot catch a break. Imagine spending your teens on the battlefield, and when the war finally ends and you get to go home, you are immediately thrown into a god ordaned death game. This is Levi's reality.

History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

Prehevil. It's your hometown, even if it has a tainted past painted all around its narrow alleyways. The painful memories would start from that one night... Your parents were arguing downstairs. The argument would heat up, like always, and it would turn into a fight. Your mother charged inside your room in desperation. She locked the door and pushed it with all her might. First the odor of old vodka carried over to your room, then you heard your father's heavy steps walk up the stairs. Your father started bashing down the door.

  • Pray for a god
    Which god?
    • Gro-goroth The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
    • Sylvian The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
    • Alll-mer The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
    • The moon god The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
    • Vinushka The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
    • The god of fear and hunger The gods didn't answer to your prayers this time, but you made a pact with the said god for life.
  • Stand up against your father Your efforts didn't matter much before the drunken stupor of your father. It did raise your maximum bodily resilience though.
  • With your mother gone and your father drinking in the gutter, you were taken to the Prehevil orphanage. The place treated children awfully and all kinds of rumours circulated on why kids would disappear occasionally without a trace. You couldn't wait to get out of there as soon as possible. Unfortunately your wishes were answered sooner than you could've guessed. When the second great war started, the Eastern Union recruited every able-bodied person no matter the age to fight for the motherland. You were only 13 at the time, but still they dragged you with them. What kind of weaponry did you specialize in?

    • Pistols You got Lugr Pistol and 10 9mm Bullets!
    • Rifles You got Rifle .303 Mk I and 4 .303 Ammo!
    • Trenchguns You got 12-gauge Trenchgun and 3 12-gauge shells!

You excelled on the battlefield despite your age. However you grew bitter as you saw younger and younger kids being recruited and killed as the war dragged on. By this time you were already responsible for your own squad of child soldiers. You were given a mission meant for expendables, one that would be a guaranteed suicide mission. You were already growing tired of the haphazard way of distributing troops and the general morale of the Eastern Union army was starting to show its cracks...

    • Take the mission and fulfil your duty You survived the mission despite impossible odds. This increased your proficiency in your branch of weaponry. (Pistol) You learned Gunslinger! (Rifle) You learned Marksmanship! (Trenchgun) You learned Executioner! Unfortunately the mission had its toll on you as well. Your psyche couldn't handle all the losses on the battlefield. So you had to take opioids to ease the pain. You formed an addiction. You got Heroin and withdrawl symptoms!
    • Abandon the sinking ship

You couldn't stand up for this any longer and became a deserter. The Eastern Union wouldn't forgive such crimes, so you had to pack up wisely for your escape...

    • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
    • Stock up on ammo (Pistol) You managed to find 4 9mm Bullets! (Rifle) You managed to find 3 .303 Ammo! (Trenchgun) You managed to find 2 12-gauge shells!
    • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!

How long has it been? Feels like a lifetime since you left the town... It's not a place anyone would want to return to, but when you got no other place in this world, you are left with no options...

levi in a low and wide stance. he is holding a rifle pointed downward.

    Personality

Levi is a very quiet and distant individual at first glance. He tries to keep others away, his withdrawl causing extreme paranoia. Once he begins to let other in, however, he is a bit more talkative. A bit. He is softspoken and friendly, but seldom talks about himself. He seems to enjoy talking about the town, though. Levi often gives insights on what it was like growing up an orphan, and telling little stories and anicdotes about Prehevil. His interest mostly lie in the lore of the town. He is also the first to put himself in a potentially dangerous situation. He will often offer to guard an enteranceway, and is disconcertingly comfortable with heights. Overall a 10/10 boy.

    Gameplay

I love playing as Levi. But also he sucks. The heroin withdrawl debuff can really slow you down and put you in some scary situations, but his gun proficiencies are fucking incredible. Marksmanship and Executioner are so fun. Absolutely wreck shit. Having him as a party member can be a bit more difficult, though. Not having access to his skill tree and still having to deal with withdrawl can make him a bit hard to work with. But he is one of the earliest recruits in the game if you have some heroin on you. He may not be the best character, but I'll be damned if I'm not taking him to Logic with me. Give that boy some heroin and a trench gun and let him loose 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white photo of a rainy day. the cobbled street is wet, and people are walking quickly by. a brick building sits in the background and disappears to the right. in the foreground is Levi on a motercycle. he is wearing a collared coat and shorts. in this weather? smh

After the events that transpired in your home town, there was no looking back anymore. It was for the better. You were forced to cut all your ties to the past. It was liberating. You were finally free. ...Or that's how it felt for the first few weeks at least. Slowly everything you had witnessed stared to weigh on you. To push back all the missery and horrors, you drifted from one place to another. Never growing roots in any specific place. Always on the run so you wouldn't have to confront the past... You'd arrive in a new city, in a new country, do whatever work you got for a while until the events of Prehevil started to invade your nightmares once again. That's when you knew it was time to go once again. Maybe one day you'd get far enough so the past couldn't follow you anymore? Or maybe the past would finally catch up to you?

    Final Thoughts & Feelings

Levi is so so so important to me. I adore him, truly. He is often a nice break from some of the stronger personalities, and his interactions with other party members are golden. I especially love his chats with Marina. Both being Prehevil natives and the same age, despite their very diffrerent backgrounds, gives them a lot of chemistry (not just romantic but mostly romantic). I appreciate that Marina tries to involve him in things and actively engages with him. I also think his interaction with Abella is really sweet. Big sis Abella ftw. And his anicdotes never cease to amaze me. This city really always has been rotten, hasn't it? He'll just drop the most insane thing you've ever heard short of Termina itself and you cannot say anything about it. Oh the hotel owner murdered 6 kids? Wow very interesting Levi thanks for sharing.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • Levi mentions he used to watch his mother play piano when he was little, and is shown to have an interest in playing, but seems to think it is not possible for him. Let my boy PLAY
    • Levi also appears to be interested in reading and gothic literature in the book store.
    • If found day 1 night in the Mayor's Manor, Marina will leave the party for every other PC besides Levi. Does Marina have a crush on Levi, or is she just more comfortable staying with this absolute failboy? Do you think Miro has time for subtlety? Girl get that ass
    • In the files Levi is almost exclusively reffered to as "mercenary". To me this implies he was built off the base of, or was at some point meant to fill the role of, Cahara from the first game. A ton of character files from the first game are also found in the Termina files and occasionally other characters share names with the first game's party members, especially the sawing sprites. I assume Miro used the art from the first game as a base, but Levi stands out having the moniker of "mercenary".

Marco is a tall and wide man with broad shoulders and a bulkier build. he has sharp features, with furrowed brows, a down-turned nose and a defined jawline. he has dark brown curly hair kept short, with hair falling just above his brows. he is wearing a plain white shirt under a long green jacket with a popped collar. his shirt is tucked into a pair of blue denim jeans heald up by a simple brown belt. his hands are in the pockets of his jeans and he is looking at the viewer with an intense stare.

    Marcoh

"Life in an underground boxing ring has taught the boxer how to deal with opponents bare-handed. The boxer excels at close-quarters combat."

Marcoh is a 31 year old underground boxer from Vatican City. A player character and potential party member, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. Marcoh, despite his hard exterior, is really rather soft. I don't like his moniker of "thug". It makes him appear as meaner than he is. He just want's to help, I think.

    History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

For the majority of your life you've only known the streets of the Vatican City. This is actually the first time in your life you're travelling this far from those narrow and crowded alleyways. Things don't look that fancy elsewhere. Travelling is overrated you think to yourself. In your earliest memories you remember spending time with your parents, but then suddenly you just didn't have parents anymore. You can't remember what happened, but from one point onwards it was just you and your sister against the world. You were still only ten years old but you had to make a living somehow...

    • Become a pickpocket You learned Steal! The Vatican City was full of streets kids similar to you and in no time you learned the tricks of the trade. You tried your hand in pickpocketing. It worked for some time, but too often you got caught in the act which resulted in you getting beaten up.
    • Become a burglar You learned Lockpicking! The Vatican City was full of streets kids similar to you and in no time you learned the tricks of the trade. You tried your hand in breaking into apartments and stealing all the valuables you could carry. It worked for some time, but too often you got caught in the act which resulted in you getting beaten up.
    • Try to lead a honest life You tried different odd jobs. The only thing common with all of them was that eventually you messed things up and got fired. Still you were able to save up 10 Shillings!

The streets schooled you hard, but as you grew older you noticed that you started to tower over those who bullied you before. If someone still tried to do you dirty, you were quickly able to give them a taste of your justice. Because of your size and skills in fighting, you started to attract attention of local street gangs that tried to recruit you as their muscle. This never sounded right to you. You had been extorted of your measly salaries too many times. You didn't want to do the same to anyone. But turning down small-time criminals only got you to further trouble. Almost every other night you'd end up in street fights. At one point you realized that you were doing more fighting than actual work, not to mention that's where you got most of your money too. You started to consider fighting as your job. Maybe it would be worth investing into it more? You started to work out more regularly and follow a strict regimen.

    • Train strength You tried to train your explosive power so your strikes would pack more punch. You started doing more push-ups, you used animal carcasses as punching bags at the local butcher where you worked part-time, you climbed fire escape ladders instead of using stairs and so on... You managed to increase your strength with a couple of levels in the end.
    • Bulk up in mass You thought that bulking up could make you more resistant to punches. So you started eating like a bear, at least tripling your calorie intake. That combined with lifting weights (the sofa at your apartment), dragging horse carriages with your body along with other resistance exercises proved to have obvious effects. You managed to increase your defence with a couple of levels in the end.
    • Improve your footwork You thought that swift feet would prove useful in boxing ring. It wouldn't matter how hard one would punch, if that punch never connects. You spiced up your boxing drills by tying sand bags to your arms and feet. Every time you started to get used to the weights, you'd double the bags. You didn't really feel the change until you finally dropped the weights and noticed how light and lighting fast your movements were without the additional baggage. Your agility leveled up at least twice during all that.
    • Train your stamina You started your days by running the Tiberian river upstream. 'The ten thousand steps of penitence' located at the heart of the city also became familiar to you. Day and night you'd be running those stairs up and down. In the end your stamina did increase and in following fights you could easily take one or two more hits than before.

You were doing alright in fights, so much so that you started to build a little reputation on the streets. In no time you moved on to underground boxing rings where there was more money on the table and less danger of the opponent pulling a knife in the middle of a match. While you were busy in the ring, your sister had grown into a beautiful young woman who attracted all kinds of admirers. It would have meant trouble if it wasn't for your mean reputation. Most low life thugs on the streets knew that they'd have to answer to you if they tried anything dodgy. That didn't mean that there weren't those who tried. She started to get close with a known mobster Riccardo Accardo. He was the heir to the Accardo branch of The Family. The Family was an organized body of criminals operating in the Vatican City. In all intents and purposes The Family was a mafia, but they also had deep ties to the church which in turn was running the country. So it was a bit more complicated... Despite being a mobster, Riccardo seemed decent enough. He had a flirtatious and flattering way of speaking and in general got along with everyone. He took notice in your skills and tried to casually recruit you to their ranks. You politely declined the offer. Since you didn't take the offer, Riccardo had another one on the platter - He proposed that he'd hook you up with a real boxing trainer to get you to the next level. You again declined, but your sister insisted that you'd at least try it out. You agreed. Things started to feel more professional the second you stepped inside the gym. The trainer, an elderly gentleman who had an impressive record of previous apprentices, was impressed by your raw skills. He thought that the best way to push you further would be to choose where to specialize.

    • Specialize in accuracy You learned Bare-fisted proficiency!
    • Specialize in evasion You learned Bob and weave!
    • Specialize in defence You learned Perfect guard!
    • Specialize in offence You learned Adrenaline rush!

His methods proved effective. Soon you had your first real bout in the ring and won the match with relative ease. Your sister and Riccardo were there to congratulate you. You continued with your winning streak. The hype around you was growing, slowly even you started to believe the hype. Riccardo was able to organize big matches one after another. You started spending more time inside The Family quarters with Riccardo and your sister. Without noticing it you had been pulled into the criminal world. What started as helping out a friend, became a more frequent occurrence. Soon Riccardo showed his true colours as well. He had been building you up for a fated boxing match. Apparently your next opponent was a former family member who had cut all ties to the organization. Your job was to kill him in a boxing match. You politely declined. But at this point there was no turning back. Riccardo reminded that he got your sister back at his flat and she'd feel it in her skin if you didn't comply. You didn't know what to do. Soon you found yourself in the ring with the ex-family member and the bell rang. He was a tough opponent but you managed to get the best of him. You were able to counter one of his attacks with a knock out hit. Things moved in slow motion as you saw Riccardo in your corner nodding with a sly smile. You followed up your hit with another, and another, and another. You didn't even stop when the man hit the ground. The referee had to pull you away with all he got before you stopped. The damage had already been done. You had killed a person. You were devastated by all this, but kept it all inside. This was only the beginning. Riccardo had plenty of dirty work for you to do and at this point he had plenty of leverage too. Your sister being the last resort everytime you hesitated. Things had to change.

    • Get rid of Riccardo You learned Killing intent! Riccardo was wary of you. He seemed to sense your killing intent from miles away and that's why he avoided seeing you alone to the best of his abilities. He was too cocky to consider you a serious threat though. As if he had you under his thumb. That proved out to be a grave mistake. For him. You were to meet Riccardo and a dozen of his henchmen at a local club to discuss another one of your many tasks. You had been waiting for an opportunity to see him alone, but that opportunity never presented itself. 'Fair enough' you thought. The moment you got to a punching distance, Riccardo had a split-second realization of what was happening before you knocked him off his feet. The little rat tried to slither away but you grabbed him by his throat and kept slamming him on the floor until he stopped moving. In your rage you lifted him up and threw him over the railing. He fell from the second floor to the center of the club's dance floor. You saw him fall head first to the ground. You had succeeded in what you set out to do. Getting out of the club was secondary. You had to fight through a mob of Riccardo's goons. Somehow you made it out from the backdoor with only minor injuries and ran away as fast as you could.
    • Get your sister and flee the country You learned Escape plan! You couldn't find your sister anywhere. Calling her telephone, nothing. You started to suspect that Riccardo had suspected something like this and sent your sister somewhere. You were left with no choice but to confront Riccardo.

You ran away from the crime scene. The problem was that now both the Family and the law enforcement of the city were after you. Just then you received a phone call from your sister. She had been sent to Riccardo's summer villa in the country of Valland some days prior. You explained the situation to her and the two of you decide to meet up in the country of Rondon. There was no possibility of you living in Vatican City anymore. You had to act fast before the police would catch up on you. What did you take with you before leaving the city?

    • Stock up on medical goods You took 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
    • Stock up on food You took 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!
    • Take your luxury products with you You took a syringe of Heroin and some Pep pills with you!

You took the first train that left the country. The destination was an obscure little town called Prehevil in the country of Bohemia. You had no idea where that place was, but you figured you could plan your trip better once you got there...

marcoh standing in a tight position. his arms are up and ready to fight. his legs are in a boxing stance.

    Personality

Marcoh is a large and intimidating person at a glance, and while he's not one to fuck with, he is really a rather gentle person at heart. He spends a lot of time with Olivia the first day, staying with her on the train while she can't travel far without a wheelchair, and the morning of day 2 he goes into town to find her one. In stark contrast however, Marcoh is more than a bit impulsive. He'll throws a punch before asking questions, and this habit gets him in a bit of trouble (killed (by Pav)). He regrets his previously violent life but struggles to leave it behind, and is still willing to use his strength to help others where he can, despite everything.

    Gameplay

Marcoh is the embodiment of punching really good. He is a really good first character, coming right out the gate with the ability to kill early enemies in a round or two at most. I've found that he doesn't scale well, however. As you get into the later stages of the game, he seems to be a bit lacking, especially as a companion without access to a lot of his skills. His skill tree takes a lot of investment (and a lot of sawn off heads) to get much out of. If you are willing to put in that effort, however, he's a force to be reckoned with.

    Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white image of maroh surrounded by a group of men as he boxed another man.

The city of Prehevil was meant to be just a stepping stone on your path to greener pastures. Instead it turned out to be a place that shaped the very person you ended up becoming. Your sister was waiting for you in the Kingdom of Rondon, that was the plan. She welcomed you unknowing of the horrors you had witnessed on your way there. You never spoke of your experiences, even if those events ate you up every night as you laid down to sleep. People walked the streets of Rondon every day without knowing what was lurking in the shadows of every dark corner of the world. It was better that way. It was better that they didn't know how helpless they truly were against the cosmic horrors out there. But you could help them prepare if they ever had to come face to face with anything of that nature. You started running a boxing gym with your expertise. The attendees would step inside in hopes of learning how to defend against common street thugs, but they would step outside ready to face the unknown. Saving people's lives like this even alleviated some of your inner guilt. You had taken lives of many, but maybe you could finally give something back as well.

    Final Thoughts & Feelings

Marcoh is so good. Obsessed with his relationship with Tanaka. Boy best friends so fucking pumped about self defense. I also love his relationship with Olivia. Seeing them interact is fun and a nice break for the horrors. I am an absolute sucker for the gentle giant archetype. Give me a man who is strong and big but also sensitive and kind. I am so fucking easy. He's not stupid, though, which I enjoy. He's not book smart but he definitely isn't dumb - his knowledge of fighting being rather valuable. He has a soft spot for little creatures, and I like to think he would be a cat guy. Guy who punches peoples arms off trying to talk to toads. His protective nature and the need to help others is so important to me. I desperately need he and Abella to interact more. They just seem like they would get along so well. Marcoh is an 11/10 guy. He deserves better than everything he got.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • 90% sure he's a Jojo's reference. The whole vibe is Jojo.
    • He barely knows what an athiest is </3
    • Marcoh seems to really like toads? He triest to talk to them :) ribbet
    • He seems to have an interest in the occult, showing a lot of curiosity in the magic shop and Donnovan's house. Maybe his conversations with Marina on the train left him with some interest in it? I like that thought.
    • Do you think he sees his firey and passionate sister in Marina? Do you think he finds her attitude comforting and familiar in a way? Do you think the reminder of his little sister he's done so much for kept him going the whole time? I think so.
    • He is from the F&H equivilant of Italy and probably has an italian accent and I just think about that a lot.

marina is a young woman with greyish brown wavy hair. she has straigt bangs just above her eyebrows and her hair is a bit longer than shoulder-length. she has softer features with a down-turned mouth. she has several piercings around her lips, two on the top and bottom on the right, and one at the corner of her mouth on the left. she wears a plain button-up with a frilly collar and a black ribon tied in a bow around her neck. she also wears a pink ankle-length skirt.

    Marina

"The occultist focuses on the creative use of otherworldly powers. While not as strong with harmful or offensive skills, her abilities are no less impressive when used properly."

Marina is an 18 year old occultist and Prehevil native. A player character and potential party membe, she is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. She is the epitome of creepy weird girl energy and I love her so much. She would perform strange occult rituals on you without question if you offered.

    History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

You were born into the church of Alll-mer. For many generations your lineage took part in the most wicked of rituals only to appease gods of a forgotten age. A life of a dark priest is a cruel one even if modern times overlooked the most archaic and ancient rites. A dark priest's life begins and ends in full dedication to the older gods. There is no place for self in the church. You mother had different plans for you. She didn't want you to go down the path that would befall to every firstborn son in church. So when she finally let your father know of your birth, she told him a daughter was born to the household. You were dressed accordingly. Your distant and often absent father didn't get a wind of the original nature of things, or he just denied what was in front of his face. In either case, the subject was never brought up. As you grew a little bit older, you didn't question this either. Everything felt natural this way, so who cares? You grew up at the churchyard in the city of Prehevil. You started your religious studies at a fairly young age. You were given an option to choose which studies you would pursue - Something completely unheard of if you had been a firstborn son of a dark priest.

    • Study occultism You learned Engrave!
    • Study alchemy You got the books Alchemillia vol.1 and Alchemillia vol.2!
    • Study blood magic You learned Necromancy!

You proved out to have great talent as an occultist and slowly even the holy city of Vatican and their Ministry of Darkness heard about your feats. You were offered a scholarship at the Vatican City to further educate yourself. You took the position without hesitation. Just the idea of getting away from your condescending and stuck up father was enough to make the decision, not to mention the obvious benefits the Vatican City would have to offer. Your home town wasn't exactly a bustling metropolis. Your mother was very proud of you. She always was. Your father on the other hand seemed jealous of you. Your father had always been antagonistic towards you and your pursuits. You were not sure if it had something to do with your origin or if there was something else left unsaid... At the Ministry of Darkness, Vatican City - In the initiation ceremony all the new student would have to choose an older god that they'd let inside them. Who did you choose?

    • Gro-goroth You affliction with the said god grew greatly.
    • Sylvian You affliction with the said god grew greatly.
    • Alll-mer You affliction with the said god grew greatly.
    • The moon god You affliction with the said god grew greatly.
    • Vinushka You affliction with the said god grew greatly.
    • The god of fear and hunger You affliction with the said god grew greatly.

Everything was going well with your studies until one day you got a letter from home. It was written by your father. This was very strange. You didn't have any contact with him since your departure. The letter told that your mother had passed away. The words were cold and without sympathy. You tried calling your home but the telephone exchange couldn't connect to any phone in the Prehevilian area. You had a suspicion that your father had something to do with this. He had always been too obsessed with the blood magic and you had learned that there were too many rites that demanded the blood of your loved ones to work. There was no other way. You had to prepare for a trip back home, to Prehevil. How did you prepare for the travels?

    • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
    • Get something to read You get [random skin bible]!
    • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!

How long has it been? Feels like a lifetime since you left the town...

    Personality

Marina is a smart and sarcastic individual. Her sense of humor is dry, to the point it can be hard to tell if she's joking, and she isn't one to hold her tongue. Curious, especially about the occult, she's an avid reader. A real book worm if you will. Marina is also woefully unaffected by the situation she finds her hometown in. Really has a distain for Prehevil I cannot articulate. She's an absolute treat.

    Gameplay

Marina is easily one of the most diverse characters to play as right out the gate. Her specialization in occultism gives her access to many of the different gods' spells. Engrave is also a really useful skill. It relies on your luck (or how many contestants you're willing to take the heads of), but if you raid enough bookshelves you'll have at least a few skin bibles. Engrave gives Marina the ability to carve sigils on the faces of other party members to give them a bonus to their stats. She's kinda hard to play as a beginner without any context for gods or spells, but once you get the hang of things she's not one to fuck with.

    Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

a black and white photo of marina and another woman. both are wearing fur coats and hats. marina is smiling at the camera while the other woman holds a more neutral expression.

You didn't have any burden left from your old life. It was a bitter sweet feeling. Your ties to your family and past were severed thanks to the traumatic events that transpired in Prehevil. The thought of returning to Vatican City to continue your studies didn't sound appealing. Not after everything you had seen. Some things were not meant for humans to meddle with. As years went on, you drifted all the way to the country of Valland and found yourself settling down in the red light district of the capital. You had trouble fitting in with regular people who were unaware of the greater scheme of things, but from the people that inhabited the red light district you found kindred spirits. Everyone carried baggage there and no one judged no one. Occult skills helped you make friends easily and there were many ways you could make a living there with the help of little magic. Things were pretty nice actually. Now if you could tell who this photobombing person was... She has been trying to make friends with you for the longest time... Pretty annoying.

    Final Thoughts & Feelings

Marina is the ultimate girl ever. I would defend her honor with my life and if you ever misgender her I will kill you with my bare hands. She is a extraordinary occultist, really funny, and the most trans icon of all time (hyperbolic but true). I love her interactions with everyone, but especially Levi and O'saa. She is just really nice to Levi and it's really sweet. I enjoy that she tries to involve him in conversations and encourages his interest in books. Me and the bad sad bitch I pulled by being into blood magic. Meanwhile with O'saa she can have an actual conversation about magic, and seems to find his perspectives and unique knowledge very interesting (besides his take on reading but nobody liked that). She craves knowledge about the occult and would definitely do evil magic on you without question. She is a joy to have in any party and really fucking fun to play as.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • Playing as her, or having her in your party when reaching the encounter at the church, unique dialogue will occur for both Father Domek and Samarie. If you're not playing as Marina she is so fucking mean to Samarie 😭😭😭 you can be a bit nicer if you play as her, but I don't blame Marina for the reaction she has.
    • If you recruit Marina, instead of her being in her spot in the book store there will be her doppelgänger. The doppelgänger will disappear if Marina is killed. It won't even initiate a fight if confronted by Marina, only attacking in response to being attacked. That thang straight chilling
    • She will carve a ritual circle into the floor of train to fast travel later. If you play as her it'll kinda just appear.
    • Marina is the only character crucified towards the cross in the center of old town.
    • Trans your gender or take the L. Which way western man

    O'saa

"Contrary to other priest's beliefs, yellow mages don't dedicate their lives to worship. Yellow mages use otherworldly powers only to their own benefit and to further their own agenda."

O'saa is a 32 year old yellow mage born in Abyssonia, but isn't from anywhere in particular. A player character and potential party member, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. He has a weird little freak with a disembodied head on his person at all times. Both of them are the most insufferable assholes you've ever met for different but similar reasons.

    History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

You were born and raised in the raging heats of Abyssonia. The continent with a long history embedded with chaos and warring factions. Those fools. The people around you waged wars over ancient disputes and grudges started by long gone ancestors. But that is how it had always been. The people of Abyssonia held ancestors and their spirits on a godlike pedestal. But it's not like it was any better in the north, in the continent of Europa. Those fools worshipped ancient deities that none of them had ever even seen with their own eyes. And they certainly had their disputes as well. A Great War after another. What's worse, their disputes didn't stay within their borders. They dragged everyone into their mess. They had set their eyes on Abyssonia now because of its strategic position in securing an access to oil and other raw materials from the east. It was only a matter of time before their troops would march on your land. You were not going to die because some faceless puppeteers chose to focus their magnifying glasses on your home country this time. Despite your young age, you decided to leave. Your siblings and mother would mourn your departure. They wanted you to have something to remember them by.

    • Take your family Chac chac You took the Chac chac with you.
    • Take your father's memento, Soul stone You took the Soul stone with you. It was said to hold your father's spirit in it.

You had considered yourself as successfully dead inside, not swayed by emotions, but it took a lot of effort to convince yourself that you wouldn't miss your family. You still obviously had weaknesses to weed out. You headed to the City of the Sun - Amon to educate yourself on spiritualism and religion. You were no slough physically, but you always considered your intellect your true forte. And just like that you were accepted as an apprentice after some preliminary tests. At the same time news about the Great War closing Abyssonian borders were all they could talk on the radio. Amon was far from the borders and it would probably remain safe for a good while even after a war broke. You figured you'd still have plenty of time to learn at the temple and leave the country before it was too late. At the Temple of Amon you were given a choice to learn various different schools of spiritualism.

    • Learn of worship in Europa

The worship in Europa focused on the older god Alll-mer, but among scholars it wasn't too uncommon to worship even more obscure deities.

      • Learn of Alll-mer Your affinity with the Alll-mer grew.
      • Learn of Gro-goroth Your affinity with the Gro-goroth grew.
      • Learn of Sylvian Your affinity with the Sylvian grew.
      • Learn of God of Fear and Hunger Your affinity with the God of Fear and Hunger grew.
      • Learn of Vinushka Your affinity with the Vinushka grew.
      • Learn of the Moon God Your affinity with the Moon God grew.
    • Learn magic from Eastern Sanctuaries You learned Pyromancy trick.
    • Learn methods of your home country You learned Meditation.

You were talented and praised for your quick learning at the temple. But that came as no surprise to you. You knew you were smarter than most of those old geezers. They only possessed knowledge you wanted, once you had that, they served no purpose to you. More time you spent at the temple, more pathetic the priests of Amon started to look in your eyes. Religion in general started to look dubious too after examining how the world functioned. Most religious doctrines were molded to accommodate the current ruling class. Religion was used as a mere tool to control masses more than anything else. Dedicating your life to worship would equal dedicating your life to kings and queens of the time. You had left your home because you didn't want to die fighting someone else's war, so why would you waste your life serving someone else in turn? Around this time you found an old scroll from one of the many Amon libraries. The scroll mentioned an old sect of magical practitioners originating from Eastern Sanctuaries whose world view seemed more appealing to you. 'Yellow mages' differed from your typical priests. Instead of dedicating their lives to worship, gods existed for them. Their force was to be harnessed to further one's own personal growth and agenda. Instead of finding order from the commandments laid out by the older gods, yellow mages reveled in chaos. Chaos was the natural state the world would return to time and time again, so why even try and force it to anything else? You quit at the temple of Amon and decided to head east in pursuit of these 'yellow mages'. You travelled beyond your home continent, ultimately finding yourself at the narrow streets of Eastern Sanctuaries. You got acquainted with the local temples. Even they had adopted the worship of Alll-mer as their main religion. Eastern Sanctuaries were no better than the temples of Amon in that regard. If anything, religion was even more prevailevant there and dictated the way people were to live and die. You were looked down upon by the scholars and religious leaders of the area because of your very public opinions. That didn't bother you. You knew better. In time your conviction convinced the facets you wanted. You were approached by a group of travelling mages who wore colourful attires. The yellow mages that were still around in this day and age were reduced to small separate groups wandering around the world to study all fields of the otherwordly. The group saw the potential in you and offered a place among them. You liked what you heard and decided to join the wandering group. What did you specialize in?

    • Learn basic techniques You learned La Danse Macabre, the traditional dance of the yellow mages that channels otherwordly powers close to you.
    • Learn more advanced magic You learned Hurting.

Your path of learning and self-growth knew no end. Your travels brought you to a small bordertown in Eastern Sanctuaries. There you met a curious person. Hadil Azif, a self-proclaimed wizard from the far east. Despite his pretentious appearance, his family name 'Azif' was well known and even somewhat feared in certain occult circles which gave his claims at least some credibility. He was gathering a group of adventurers to accompany him on a perilious quest. He had inherited a map from his late grandfather that was supposed to lead him to the infamous dungeons of fear and hunger itself. The place used to be a noteworthy location of pilgrimage for many aspiring mages and priests in the distant past. The yellow mages you had spent time with previously told ominous tales about the dungeons as well. Initially you dismissed Azif's talks only to be haunted by the most brutal nightmares on the following night. Something was calling for you. You had to witness the place yourself. You joined the motley crew of adventurers Azif had managed to put together and travelled through war-torn Europa. Most of the crew quit half-way to Rondon because of how difficult it was to cross borders during those chaotic times. The closer to the destination you got, more feverish your dreams became. The remaining members of your ragtag fellowship were visibly sick from stress and otherwordly pressure that had befallen on you the moment you set out on your quest. The breaking point was the day you were to finally arrive at the dungeons. A heavy fog drowned your camp and made navigation impossible. Using compass a did no good as the thing was just spinning circles wildly. Distant growls and howls created unrest. Not that there was any need for that as superstition and constant misfortune had already convinced your fellow travellers that this trip was cursed from the start. Your companions panicked and scattered to the mist. Azif himself had been sick from constant nightmares for half the trip already. You left him curled up in fetus position in his tent and ventured forward on your own...

    Abridged Version

After walking for a while you started to make out something behind the thick white veil... The mist revealed a structure of some kind... They were medieval ruins of a fortress. Or what had been a fortress back in the day. Now they were just a rubble of rock and stone. Someone had set up modern tents beside the fortress entrance. It looked like an archeological expedition had been studying the area somewhat recently. The site looked abandoned now. The fortress felt menacing the closer you got to it. Its insides were pitch black. No light penetrated the eternal darkness that resided in that god-forsaken place. You braved through your initial fight-or-flight reaction and walked in. The dungeons were as dilapitated as their outerior suggested. You cautiously explored the place in a torch light. You didn't get far when you already heard gutteral growls echoing in the empty hallways. You were not alone in the darkness. The morbid tales about the ruins started to sound more plausible the deeper you got. Maybe you would've turned back too if it wasn't for a strange voice echoing inside your head. Something seemed to be calling you from the depths. You continued to search the dungeons one room at a time. Most valuables had been looted over time, but behind a collapsed tunnel you managed to find an old bookshelf with a set of books that caught your interest.

    • Pick Skin bible - Gro-goroth You got Skin Bible - Gro-goroth!
    • Pick Skin bible - Rher You got Skin bible - Rher!
    • Pick Skin bible - Sylvian You got Skin bible - Sylvia!

The manuscripts all seemed to be part of a bigger compilation and you would have loved to have all of them with you. But you had a job to do and you couldn't burden yourself with too much extra luggage.

Your initial assesment of the abandoned archeological expedition proved out to be wrong. The archelogists were still very much there, wandering the hallways as ghoulish husks. The darkness had its way with those people and they were now bloodthirsty monsters. The thought did cross your mind that the very same could happen to you too if you spent there too long. You had to be hasty in your actions. To deal with the company, you decide to arm yourself once you found the remains of what was once the armory of the dungeons.

    • Pick the Officer sword
    • Pick the Iron spear

What looked like small ruins from the ground level, turned out to hide multiple levels of macabre secrets. You passed through old torture chambers, prisons suspended above a bottomless chasms, huge underground caverns... All the while the echo in your head became stronger. You were clearly getting closer to the source of that mysterious voice. Finally you found a digging site from caves that were located underneath all the horrors. The archeological expedition had reached that place before succumbing to the darkness. They had revealed ruins of an ancient city from a stone wall. As you entered the ruins you felt like you entered another time entirely. The decor was unlike any culture you were aware of. What had lead you to the ruins was feverishly calling for you beneath the rocks and rubble. You dug the piles with your bare hands. And there it was. The source of the voice. A burnt and mummified severed head. The head had deep lines running across its forehead. In the place of its eyes were dark and empty sockets. The only hair on the head was the sparse moustache under its big nose...

    Full Text Adventure

I'm not doing the full text adventure right now you cant fucking make me

“I wasn't expecting a worm like you weaseling its way this deep to the dungeons, but I'll take what I get. All earthworms do after all is dig. Your garments... Hmph. Maybe you do have more than a camel's spit in place of your mind, you are a yellow mage are you not?”

You confirmed the suspicions of this beheaded oddity.

“Figures. That is why a measly maggot like yourself could hear my call... Very well... KNEEL BEFORE ME! For I am your master, Nas'hrah the doom and terror of the modern man!”

That name, Nas'hrah... That was a name you were not expecting to hear. It was a name even the yellow mages only talked in the darkest hours of the night. Nas'hrah the harbinger of the burning crusade. Nashrah the bringer of torment. Nashrah the doom and terror of the modern man... The great wizard from the Eastern Sanctuaries went by many names. He indeed was your master. For this beheaded wizard was the one who gave birth to yellow mages and their ideology. Only that had happened over thousand years earlier. There were no records of Nas'hrah for at least 500 years.

“Kueh heh hee. I have a task for you my puny pupil. There is a man I want skinned alive. After that I want to RIP OFF THEIR SPINES! They will slump before me limp and feeble!”

Your master seemed to be surprisingly up to date with the twists and turns the world had taken since his absence. He had a mission for you. As a yellow mage you were supposed to follow your own ambitions and greed, but there was a lot you could learn from this death-defying wizard that could further your knowledge on dark matters greatly... You decided to play along. You were sure that this "terror of the modern man" was perfectly aware of your reasoning too. That was the common relationship between a master yellow mage and their apprentice after all. You were to travel to a small country in the eastern Europa with the beheaded wizard. To a town called Prehevil. Your master promised events of cosmic proportions. The stars were aligned for something big to happen. Something that would turn the tides of the world for good. The head left out details from his story on purpose, but that did little to bother you. You had just jumped to the deep end of the otherwordly world. You couldn't have asked for more. With this little information about the task at hand, how did you prepare for the trip?

    • Stock up on medical goods You managed to find 2 Blue Vials and a Cloth Fragment!
    • Stock up on magical goods You managed to find 2 pouches of Tobacco and a Condensed lavender
    • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meat and a Moldy bread!

You've felt tense since the moment you embarked on this journey. Every night you'd see nightmares of the horrors that would wait you in Prehevil... Whatever the price. The opportunity was too interesting to pass. With mixed feelings you continued onwards.

    Personality

Let's be real, O'saa is a pretentious asshole. He often places himself above others, believing his perspective to be superior, and will talk down to or insult other contestants, especially over religious views. He's distrustful of others, and will not hesitate to hurt others he sees as a threat. He has a disdain for most of the western world, really going in on fiction at one point? That all being said, it seems a lot of it may be fueled in part or mostly by Nas'hrah, who is all of the above ten fold. Outside of that, he's actually sorta fine? Not really. He's got a mean sense of humor, but has an earnestness to his goals you can feel. He wants to understand, with a natural curiosity for the unknown. He enjoys sharing what he knows, even if only to prove how smart he is. He's so horse plinko to me

    Gameplay

O'saa is fun as fuck to play as, I would say he's second most varied to play as behind the other spellcaster, Marina. While Marina tends to play support, O'saa is all about strength. He's a real powerhouse if you play him right, with the ability to do relatively consistent otherworldly damage and a higher max body. As a tricky bastard with several spells up his sleeve, the biggest drawback is his inability to use guns.

    Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

The cult of sulfur... the followers fo Rher... the church of Alll-mer... Were they any different from yellow mages? They all served someone else ultimately. Your master just happened to be a foul mouthed old rasin whom the time had forgotten. You threw your master into the nearest lake. Maybe some poor bastard will find him there centuries later and be led like a fool on a leash to do their master's bidding. But that was not your part any longer. You returned to Abyssonia, to your homeland. The reason you had left the whole continent was because of the state of worship there. The teachings of Alll-mer had taken over the old beliefs. You had gathered enough knowledge and skills on your travel to rival what the local temple promoted. These lands would follow your teachings in the future. Teachings that would benefit the ones practitioning your way. Not those in power, nor the establishment. One could almost be fooled into thinking this was an altruistic act. Of course in true yellow mage manner, you'd be the one on the top of the pyramid this time around.

    Final Thoughts & Feelings

O'saa is like if Enki didn't have a Nosramus, and instead had another worse Enki to egg him on. Enlightened souls seem to have some of the strongest personalities in the bunch, perhaps in part due to their truth-seeking nature and holier-than-thou/smarter-than-you attitudes. I would put him in the pear wiggler. I would put him in a blender. I love O'saa he's so mean girl. I hate him he's so pretentious. He needs to touch grass and think about what he's done. I would hate to have a conversation with him ever but GODS is he so fun to watch. Its like watching a train wreck in real time. Absolutely fuck this guy I love him. He's such a hater and I would beat the shit out of him without hesitation. He would start an MLM. He would start a cult where he is god. He is Le'garde without a victim complex. He would flirt with you and call you a slur if you rejected him. He is every asshole who's ever been someone's boss. And what fucking sucks is he could absolutely kill your ass if he wanted. He's been to the dungeons of fear and hunger and came out alive. I need crow mauler to get his ass immediately.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • O'saa's whole deal is so extra. He not only has an entire text adventure in his intro, but he is one of the only characters you as the player can actually talk to in party talk consistently. He easily has the most pc/party member interactions.
    • He has a lot of really obscure knowledge about gods, knowing who the Sulfur god is when speaking to Daan in the moldy apartments.
    • O'saa fucks and that makes me irrationally angry. He should pull zero tail. He should get NO pussy.

    Olivia

"The botanist's knowledge covers a wide variety of plants and herbs. She can create mixtures with strong healing properties or alternatively she can use her knowledge to create potent poisons."

Olivia is a 20 year old botanist from the Bremen Empire. A player character and potential party member, she is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina. Mild mannered and kind, she's a bit secretive. She's mostly wheelchair bound with limited leg mobility and upper body strength to rival the gods.

    History

The soothing sound of the railtracks... You are not used to such peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce what has lead you to this point in life...

You remember moths, blue moths - blue noctuid moths to be precise. That is your first memory as a child. You and your twin sister sitting in the backyard, illuminated by the cold blue hue of the moon. Instances where it was just the two of you, sharing a moment, were rare. That is probably why those moments matter you the most. You and your twin sister were born at the strike of midnight, at the turning point of months. Thus you were born with different birthsigns. One was born with a shadowed soul and one with a radiating soul. Since that moment it was evident that the two of you would lead very different paths in life. Just as predicted, you were the polar opposites of each other from very early on. You were fragile and weak in build, whereas your sister Reila was an active and adventurous child that could have easily been an athlete if she just chose so. You stuck indoors reading books for the most of your time. Your sister spent her time outside making friends with other kids of the neighbourhood. Despite your differences, you took solace from each other in the strict religious household you grew up in. One thing was common between the two of you - You both wanted out of the everwatching eye of your parents and their religious dogma. You found escapism from the nature and botanism. Your sister, also being academically gifted, took interest in sciences. She would dedicate her time to new sciences that centered around advanced engineering and top of the line technology. Her taking interest in the academia did irk you a little bit. As if she had stepped into your territory.

    • Give in to jealousy and try to outdo her in science You decided to not give your sister the satisfaction of being the booksmarts of the family. You snagged her books and tried to catch up to her level. Unfortunately you had no natural knack for the subject and had to force yourself to concentrate. Ultimately you did learn Short circuit! One night your sister noticed you reading through her books. You were afraid of her reaction. Instead she tried to help you understand the charts and diagrams better. Noticing the stark difference between the two of you, you decided to give up on the subject and got back to studying botanism. Getting back to the natural world felt like a relief and you realized that's what you were born to do in this world.
    • Stick to botanism You decided to concentrate on your own doings instead of giving in to the jealousy and it quickly beared fruit. You learned Undergrowth awareness! While occupying yourself with the world of botanism, your sister would often quietly join your reading sessions burying herself into her own books. Despite your differences, these reading sessions really created a strong bond between the two of you.

During your highschool years a disaster struck. You suffered multiple small strokes in a short period of time and was left bedridden. Naturally you were terrified by what could have been causing this. Your parents first turned to religious healers for aid, but nothing seemed to work. Your sister tried to persuade them to seek out modern doctors, but your parents were slow to react to her pleads. After getting no results your parents finally gave in, but it was too late at that point. The diagnosis was that you had an abnormality of the spinal cord that affected the blood flow and its supply. You underwent a long operation in hopes of fixing the issue, but unfortunately things didn't go well and you were bound for wheelchair for the unseeable future. If something had been done sooner, maybe things could've been different... What followed was an intense period during which you tried many different medical treatments, all for nothing. There was no escaping the wheelchair. Your legs did have some minor function, but they were left far too weak to carry your weight properly. The world felt like such an unfair and hostile place after all you had gone through. All this just further created contrast between you and your sister. You couldn't help but be envious of her. Her life seemed to roll forward without hiccups of any kind whereas you struggled with each step you took quite literally. Nevertheless, the two of you continued if not on the same path, then on the same lane at the very least as you both entered the same university in Bremen. Naturally you were studying botanism and natural sciences and your sister studied new computer sciences and engineering. You both were tremendously relieved. You had finally moved out of your parents' sphere of influence. Like always, you and Reila were the polar opposites. Why would have things been any different in the university? You had trouble getting acquainted with other students, but your sister on the other hand was already leading the student council and was even getting very familiar with one of the university professors.

    • Try to steal the affection of the professor Seeing how Reila and your professor exchanged looks made jealously rear its ugly head once again. Not giving the two a chance to meet up, you insisted that the professor would come for a dinner with you. You had some important things to discuss... The professor, while a little confused, did accept to your invitation. The only problem was that you had never cooked in your life. Lucky you had the university library at your disposal. You get Recipes of the 15th Century! But alas, your social skills being what they were, nothing came out of it. It seemed like the professor and your sister were destined to end up together.
    • Just concentrate in your own studies You learned Advanced Botanism! Just as you expected, your sister and the professor had an obvious connection. You were not sure whether you felt jealous for the fact that your sister garnered the attention from the opposite sex or that someone else was forming a connection with her. Either way, you didn't think too much about it. It wasn't all bad anyway as you made good friends with the professor through your sister.
    • Expose the professor to his superiors

Your student life continued smoothly, you were constantly ranked top of your class and the nature seemed to lift its veil of secrets the further you got in your studies. Your sister did even better at school. Apparently she was practically a genius in her field. She took part in a special student exchange program between the Bremen Empire and the Eastern Union. She would get to see the world, while you were stuck on your laurels. Nothing new there you pondered. In any case, the time had come for you to choose where you would specialize in your botanical studies.

    • Specialize in folkloristic side of botanism You get the Skin bible - Vinushka!
    • Specialize in toxicology You learned Toxicology!

You graduated, started your own research in botanism while also working at the biggest greenhouse in Bremen. What should've been a brand new start in life felt more like you falling into place to gather moss. Living your life through your sister's amazing tales. Her research abroad seemed to open many doors for her. The Eastern Union hired her to work in top secret facilities around the central Europa. You would receive letters from her frequently, always from a different country. She could never fully reveal what she worked on, but she did say that despite working for the army, her inventions would be for the better of mankind, not for war. It all sounded incredible and you were genuinely happy for her. Really. Only the letters came to a halt all of a sudden. You wouldn't hear from Reila for months. After 6 months, your parents got information that Reila had been accused of treason. She had committed serious crimes against Bremen Empire. That's at least the official story. By the time you heard of this she had already been in an undisclosed Bremen prison for months. You felt helpless. There wasn't much you could do. The next time you heard of her was when you read news about a terrorist group called 'Nameless Liberty Underground' breaking her free from prison. What had your sister gotten herself into? A terrorist organization? The news really bothered you. You had definitely heard of the 'Nameless Liberty Underground' before. But where...? Then you remembered it. The professor Reila had been seeing during her school years had mentioned the organization in a passing comment.

If you exposed the professor before: You investigated where the professor had gone after getting fired from the university only to find out that he had been executed several months prior. He too had been accused of treason and had been sentenced to be hanged in the middle of a battlefield. Something weird was definitely going on.

If you didn't expose him: You returned to the university to confront the professor. Only to find out that he had been executed several months prior. He too had been accused of treason and had been sentenced to be hanged in the middle of a battlefield. Something weird was definitely going on.

You got to search through his office and found several letters from Reila. Apparently the two had been in a letter correspondence long after Reila had graduated. In the last letter from her, Reila had cryptic writings about 'a cube'. Eastern Union had been 'desperately trying to replicate the cube, but to no avail'. Whatever that meant. Reila was worried that 'the operation in Prehevil' was what Kaiser of Bremen Empire was after. 'There is still time before he could get here. I still have time.' Those were Reila's last words. Upon further investigation you found out that Prehevil was a medium sized city in the country of Bohemia. That is the last known location of your sister. And that is where you decided to head without delay. With a real adventure ahead of you, how did you prepare for the trip?

    • Find something to read for your travels You managed to find the Alchemillia vol.1!
    • Stock up on herbs You managed to find 2 Green herbs, 2 Blue herbs, 2 Lavenders and a Red herb!
    • Stock up on food You managed to find 2 Dried meats and a Moldy bread!

You've felt tense since the moment you embarked on this journey. Every night you'd see nightmares of the horrors that would wait you in Prehevil... Are they just dreams? You can't help but feel that there is more to the dreams than mere logic would dictate.

    Personality

Olivia is a little quirky. Simutaniously reserved and rather extroverted, she is one of the few actively compassionate partcipants. She is kind and inoffensive, but she seems to keep a lot to herself. She doesn't go out of her way to mention that the girl in the pink dress (Relia) is her sister, she hides her insecurities over her disability, and doesn't show the intense bloodlust and the power she feels when given the oppourtunity to take a life. Otherwise, she has a passion for the natural world and plants. She would be a cottagecore girlie and a wicca in (current year). Also needs therapy, but also deserves some ass.

    Gameplay

I think the use of herbs and local flora to do damage is fun. Olivia's skillset is best for longer battles where chip damage is a bit more impactful, such as bosses. She works best as a support paired with a powerhouse like Marcoh or Levi, but if you lean into her Vinushka affinity, she can be a valuable spellcaster with both self healing and offensive options. Her wheelchair makes it difficult to traverse Prehevil, often having to dismount just to crawl up stairs and putting you in a really vulnerable position, and she can be knocked off it during battle leaving her unable to attack. Where is the fucking diability access is Prehevil smfh.

    Ending B

The only soul that returned from the trip was you...

Something good actually came from your traumatic experiences in Prehevil. It did take years of therapy to realize this, but slowly you understood what you were truly capable of. You were the champion of Termina. You. In your wheelchair and all. Somehow you were the sole survivor in what took place in that godforsaken backwaters town. You also started to feel the spirit of your sister as years went on. She was accompanying you everywhere you went. You never fully understood what happened to her, but she followed you every step of the way since you two left that wicked city. You gained courage and confidence from that ordeal. Whith that newly found confidence you set out on the most remote locations in the world to study their flora and fauna. You had learned that nature took care of you no matter where you went. You don't have limitations of human body anymore. For the first time in your life, you felt true freedom.

    Final Thoughts & Feelings

go kill girl!!! I love Olivia. She is the weird side of the girlhood spectrum for sure and I firmly believe that she has eaten several bugs of her own volition in her life. Both her and her sister going into the sciences despite their religious upbringing is so fucking real to me too. Christian fundimentalist parents to science major pipeline. I enjoy the adition of a canonly disabled person who is a sick freak and also not paralyzed. I constantly think about both of her gun lines. Absolutely insane take. I love that for her. Her relationship with Marcoh is also so good. They r besties. I want to know what she, he and Marina were talking about all day it is probably so good.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • In the demo version, if you use mind read on her, she is shown to be attracted to both Levi and Marina. Olivia 🤝 Cahara, funger fail bisexual
    • Relia is her twin sister. Olivia has very mixed feelings about her, being both very jealous of her success while still being her sister who she cares about. Her whole reason for coming to Prehevil was to find her sister.
    • She and Relia are twins, but don't share the same soul sign since Olivia was born at midnight of the beginning of the month. This also reveals that in F&H you don't gain a soul until you're born.
    • In some concept art where Olivia is standing, she looks super fucking tall and I like to think she is a lanky girl
    • She must have insane upper body strength to pull herself up ladders and stairs without much aid from her legs. The fucking goat

    Non-Player Contestants

    August (enemy)

    August

August is an enigmatic and nomadic outlander. Currently unplayable, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

We don't know exactly why he is in Prehevil. He claims it's for business, but it becomes very clear very quickly that it has more to do with Kaiser than anything else. Why he has issues with Kaiser isn't super clear, though. He's opaque in general, and we don't really know much about him, aside from him having two kids and that he lives a nomadic lifestyle inherited from family tradition. His children and their mother are settled in Valland as his attempt to break the cycle of tradition, while he still partakes in it himself. My man is NOT paying child support. Absentee dilf ftw

    Personality

While more than a bit mysterious, August still seems like a nice enough guy. He'll willingly help other contestants if the oppourtunity arises, and is overall pretty inviting. I feel like he has way more of a grip on this shit compared to most of the other contestants with the experience to back himself up. August carries a certain air of confidence and charisma with him that only really faulters near the end. Who can blame him, though? Termina fucking sucks.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • It's strongly implied he is a descendant of Ragnvaldr from the first game, as he shares the devour skill with the outlander, and he has a connection with Moonless. They are both also archers, implying that quite a bit has been passed down through the generations. The two also share the tormented soul, strengthening their connection. The fact August has the devous skill implies that the practice of cannibalism has been passed down and that fucks with me so bad.
    • He is really good at parkour? You can often just find him jumping building to building like his youtube career depends on it. I would animate these sprites if i was talented enough but I'm really not.
    • If you manage to get to the Kaiser fight before the end of day 1, August will make an appearance in an attempt to kill the dictator. It doesn't go well, believe it or not, and Kaiser kills him quickly before initiating his boss fight. This attack will also change his battle sprite to have several arrows sticking out of his face.
    • August is one of only two contestants that doesn't moonscorch (currently). If left to his own devices until the night of day 3, he will kill himself to avoid tranforming. Alternatively if you tell him about a Kaiser sighting you can find him at the tower, where he's lost it and kill Tanaka (that is, if Tanaka is still even alive. Good luck soldier.)
    • I NEED to SUCK and FUCK that OLD MAN.

    Caligura (enemy)

    Caligura

Caligura is a mobs caporegime from Vatican City. Currently unplayable, he is one of the 14 contestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

    Personality

Worst motherfucker in this entire festival. I hope he dies and goes to hell forever.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    Henryk (enemy)

    Henryk

Henryk is a 32 year old chef from Rondon. Currently unplayable, he is one of the 14 conestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

    Personality

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    Pav (enemy)

    Pavel Yudin

Pav is a, frankly, cunty officer of the Bremen army from The Voroniyan Republic. Currently unplayable, he is one of the 14 conestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

    Personality

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    Samarie (enemy)

    Samarie

Samarie is a dark priest apprentace in Vatican City. Currently unplayable, she is one of the 14 conestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

Samarie's past is less than ideal. Being naturally gifted in magic she was taken in by The Ninth Circle to be used as basically a magic battery for trying to reach the old gods and receive messages from them. While her time with The Ninth Circle gifted her with incredible magic affinity, it left her physically weak and shortened her lifespan significantly. During her tenure with The Ninth Circle, she grew an interest with Marina as a regular student at The Vatican. This very quickly devolved into obsession and stalking. This obsession goes as far as her believeing they have a relationship, though this belief may stem from the stress of killing another human and being left to fester for awhile. Yk yk. The whole reason she's in Prehevil is because Marina is. I assume it was in some attempt to "protect" her but bffr she just can't leave Marina alone.

    Personality

Samarie is an obsessive freak, there is literally no other way to get around it. Rher's weakest and least favorite lesbian. She is Marina's stalker with the most intense parasocial relationship I've maybe ever seen. Her personality is Marina fan. I personally view her as being schizospec with psychotic delusions (I am projecting (schizospec)). Otherwise she's very secretive and hides herself away in the back train car before fucking off to go kill Marina's dad, and even keeps to herself if you manage to get her back to the train. Only Marina can know what the fuck is wrong with her 💞

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • I want her. Weird pathetic failgirl sweaty neet looking ass. Kobeni-esq. She's radiating
    • She has mind read. Truly Rher's weakest lesbian. Imagine being fucking stalked by a mind reader alll fucking mer.
    • She's a son of a bitch to get to, being in the basement of the church all while on a fucking timer. Samarie 🤝 Pav have fun getting to me day 1 morning fucking idiot
    • In Marina's B ending fucking Samarie shows up again??? I seriously doubt its actually her, and is instead her doppelgänger, but I think it would be infinitely funnier if Rher or The Sulfur God revived her just to troll.

    Tanaka (enemy)

    Kida Tanaka

Tanaka is a business man hailing from the Kingdom of Edo (or its at least inferred at the moment). Currently unplayable, he is one of the 14 conestants on the train forced to participate in the Festival of Termina.

Not a ton is known about Tanaka's history at the moment, but we do know that he has a family he's scared to disappoint, and a job he is terrified to fail. He's in Europa so far away from home trying to take advantage of the current political situation to gain business opportunities. The Pepsi navy of Fear & Hunger if you will.

    Personality

Tanaka is a well put together, if timid businessman at a glance. Spend any more time with him, however, and he's a neurotic mess of nerves. Given, they all just received a death omen dream and there are corpses everywhere, but he's still easily the most shaken by it all. Well, at first. Tanaka gets a whole character arc as an npc. If you manage to keep him alive until day 2 morning, and intervene in the confrontation between Pav, Marcoh and him, he has a whole anime training arc with Marcoh teaching him. This interest in being able to defend himself marks a signifigant turn in his characterization to be a bit more proactive. He can still die like two more times after this but at least he tried.

    Trivia and the Funnies (Misc)

    • He's easily one of the first people you will encounter in the game on many occasions, the only one still in the train, the first to wander off westward, probably the first one you'll watch die, etc etc.
    • Don't fucking quote me but I think Tanaka has the most unique ways to die in the game. My man cannot catch a break for SHIT.
    • Do he and Needles have fucking beef??? The fuck did Tanaka do to the Baron to deserve this?????
    • So no head?
    • I really need his interest in crossword to be his hope bagels. No further comments.
